Comedian Jon Lovitz Spars With Me on Twitter RE Rush Limbaugh

Jon Lovitz

Jon Lovitz is a well known comedic actor, a Saturday Night Live star back in the day, and has appeared in films such as "A League of Their Own." He is a staunch supporter of Israel, and occasionally shows glimmerings of actual thought. So I "followed" him on Twitter. This week he sparred with me about Rush Limbaugh's comments on the media coverage of Robin Williams's suicide. I discussed the liberal media's profound misinterpretation of Rush's remarks here.

Jon would not be deterred, however, in his insistence that he read Rush's transcript (he didn't) and that he understands what Rush actually said (he doesn't).

I hate to be the one to say this Stogie, but Twitter flame wars are pretty low brow. They're the lowest form of online discourse apart from /pol/ raids on Tumblr (the absolute lowest you could legally get on the internet) and unregulated disqus comments sections. Unless you want delve into a vitrolic world of racism, misogyny, homophobia, religious bigotry, and threats of sexual violence at their most rampant, I'd suggest staying staying away from online flame war altogether.

This was not a "flame war." It was a discussion. Discussion and debate are what blogging is all about. So I disagree with your comments.
